Journey of the Squash

Once upon a warm summer, a little squash plant was found growing from the compost pile.  It was transferred to a garden to be tended and cared for:
 
 
It flourished and prospered and soon produced blossoms big, bold, and unquestioningly beautiful:

 
And little creatures enjoyed its shade:

 
Soon enough tiny little squash began to form:


So intricate, delicate and undeniably beautiful in their own unique way:

The hot summer melted into cool fall, and a harvest of lovely squash was collected:

 
After waiting for three or more weeks, it was time to prepare the squash for baking:

 
Washed, sliced, and de-seeded, they were placed cut side down on baking trays and covered with foil:

 
Into a 350 degree Farenheit oven they went for an hour to an hour and a half until they were fork tender:

 
Then the pulp was pureed and ready for freezing and ready for recipes, like Pumpkin Spice Muffins!
