This has been modified from its original version

Nestled into a couch of pillows, blankets, and an oversized bowl of popcorn-- it's movie time!  The previews start, and eventually the "feature presentation" disclaimer pops up:

"This recipe has been modified from its original version.
It has been formatted to fit your diet."

Ok, it doesn't quite say that, but I feel like my kitchen should.  Recipes pour into my idea box, but to be sneakily modified to fit what we can eat, they require an overhaul to still taste and resemble the original.

Sometimes that pre-program disclaimer should read:

"This recipe has been modified from its original version.
Expect nothing of a resemblance."

You know what I mean, don't you?

Well, say hello to a recipe that tastes, looks and smells like what you have always known:

Rice Krispies Treats.

I promise that you'll see the original clearly.  It's been minimally formatted to be Pickle-friendly (aka wheat and dairy free) and perfectly resembles the original.

Rice Krispies Treats

3 Tablespoons coconut oil (expeller-pressed [unflavored] is preferable)
1 pkg. (10 oz.) marshmallows
6-8 cups puffed rice cereal, depending on how stiff you want the finished product

In a large saucepan, melt oil over low heat.  Add marshmallows and stir until melted.  Remove from heat and stir in rice cereal.

In lightly greased 9x13 pan spread sticky marshmallow mixture and press into pan with greased spatula or hands.  Allow to cool completely and cut into squares.
