Perfect Simplicity - Minted Lemonade

It took me a while, but I eventually caught on.

Do you know how many delicious beverages are naturally fitting for our 'free diet?

Yep.  A whole lot of them.

I finally caught on to the fact that in order to get snazz and pizazz flavors, I no longer had to look at craftily concocted casseroles.  It was really much simpler than that.  The most basic of ingredients come together to make a glassful of something refreshing, comforting, and satisfying to our taste buds.  It takes little to no culinary expertise to fill a mug with deliciousness.

The variations of teas, lemonades, coffees, hot chocolates, and juices are practically endless.  Such a basic concept staring me right in the face the whole time.

 I get it now:   It's all in the cup.

Here's one to try:

Minted Lemonade
Perfectly lemony with subtle refreshing mint.  This is proof the most simple ingredients come together to become the most elegant of flavors. The flavor, oh!  I kid you not:  it's like lazily basking in a shaded hammock on a carefree summer day while feeling like you're decked out in the finest of jewels at a red carpet event.  Best of all worlds.  Make your average day memorable with this treat.

1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1/2 cup spearmint leaves
1 1/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
6 cups water

Stir sugar and 1 cup of water together in a saucepan.  While stirring, heat until sugar dissolves.  Remove from heat and cool slightly.  Pour simple syrup into a bowl with a lid (for refrigeration).

Give mint leaves a quick tear and add to simple syrup.  Cover and refrigerate overnight or up to 24 hours.

Remove mint leaves from syrup and stir syrup, lemon juice, and 6 cups of water together.  Serve over ice.
